About

Here at Let Them Eat Vinyl, we LOVE music. We also love the stories behind the music. Over the years, we have read many a music book – from rock star biographies to critiques of the music industry. Eventually we decided, why not do something constructive with our free time and start a site to review all the books we’ve read, to sift through the  many tales about rock & roll and the musicians who create it? From the thrilling and inspirational to the tawdry and depraved, we examine it all here.

One of our favorite books of all time, of course, is Mötley Crüe: The Dirt. In terms of sheer levels of debauchery and dirty glam-rock good times, no one did it up like the Crüe in their heyday, and The Dirt is the epitome of rock & roll storytelling amazingness. Not only does it provide a nuanced look at each of the characters in the band and the circumstances that led to their meteoric rise to success, it also offers a surprisingly thoughtful analysis of the machinations of the music industry. In fact, we like the book so much that we used each member of the band as an inspiration for our grade levels, as you will see on the Book Review Final Grades page.

    Hi,

I’m writing to you from St. Martin’s Press. We were wondering if there is an e-mail address where we can contact you about books that we have coming out that you might be interested in reviewing. If you also could give us a mailing address for you for sending you books you request, that would be great.

    Thanks very much!
